Adelaide

Am 20.02.16 bin ich morgens in den Gorge Wildlife Park gefahren. Dort habe ich dann Kängurus gefüttert und einen Koala gehalten (ja ich weiß, dass das ziemlich klischeehaft ist). Das Koalahalten war echt ein Erlebnis und der kleine Kerl schien auch ganz zufrieden zu sein. Hauptsache er hatte seine Eukalyptusblätter.
At the 20th february 2016 I drove to the Gorge Wildlife Park in the morning. There I fed kangaroos and held a koala (yes I know that this is very stereotype). To hold a koala was a great experience and the Little guy seemed pretty happy. The main thing was that he had his eucalyptus leaves.

Anschließend ging es zum Mount Lofty Summit, wo ich einen schönen Ausblick über Adelaide hatte. Außerdem lief ich den kurzen Discovery Walk entlang, an dessen Anfang ich eine Östliche Braunschlange sah, und genoß das gute Wetter.
Afterwards I went to Mount Lofty Summit where I had a beautiful view over Adelaide. I also walked along the Discovery Walk, where I saw an eastern brown snake at the beginning of the walk, and enjoyed the good weather.

Am Nachmittag fuhr ich dann noch zum Mount Lofty Botanic Garden und verbrachte dort etwa eine Stunde. Dann fuhr ich zu einer Rest Area nahe Adelaide, wo ich auch die Nacht verbrachte.
In the afternoon I drove to the Mount Lofty Botanic Garden and spent about an hour there. Then I drove to a rest area near Adelaide where I spent the night.

Gestern (21.02.16) fuhr ich dann nach Adelaide auf einen Campingplatz direkt in der Stadt. Von dort aus erkundete ich Adelaide zu Fuß. Nach einem kurzen Besuch des Visitor Centres ging es entlang der Rundle Mall und der King Williams Street zum Flinders Street Market, welcher etwas enttäuschend war, und zum The Market Shed on Holland. The Market Shed on Holland war echt super. Es gab Livemusik und viel Essen und Trinken.
Yesterday (21/02/16) I drove to Adelaide to a camp ground directly in the City. From there I explored Adelaide by foot. After a short visit in the visitor centre I went along the Rundle Mall and King Williams Street to Flinders Street Market, which was a bit disappointing, and to The Market Shed on Holland. The Market Shed on Holland was very nice. There was live Music and a lot of food and drinks.

Danach habe ich mir kostenlos ein Fahrrad ausgeliehen, dieses aber nach fünf Minuten wieder zurückgegeben, weil mir das Ding etwas zu unsicher war (und viel zu klein!).
After that I hired a free bike, but I gave it back after five minutes because this Thing was a bit unsafe to me (and way to small!).

Anschließend lief ich noch etwas durch Adelaide und schaute mir das Adelaide Oval und die St. Peters Cathedral von außen an. Dann lief ich am Torrens River entlang zurück zum Campingplatz.
Afterwards I walked a bit through Adelaide and took a look at the Adelaide Oval and the St. Peters Cathedral from the outside. Then I walked along Torrens River back to the camp ground.

Heute (22.02.16) besuchte ich nach einem kurzen Souvenirshopping den botanischen Garten. Dieser ist nach Sydney der schönste botanische Garten auf meiner Reise bisher. Besonders der Rosengarten und das Regenwaldhaus sind sehr sehenswert!
Today (22/02/16) I visited after a short souvenir shopping the botanical garden. This is after Sydney the nicest botanical garden on my trip so far. Especially the rose garden and the rainforest house are worth a visit.

Im Rosengarten sah ich auch einen Blauzungenskink.
I also saw a blue-tongued skink in the rose garden.

Da es noch früh war besuchte ich den Adelaide Zoo, wo ich mich mit Terry, einem Tierpfleger im Reptilienhaus, unterhalten konnte. Der Zoo ist zwar vergleichsweise klein aber sehr schön angelegt. Die westlichen Taipane (Oxyuranus temporalis), der Hauptgrund meines Besuchs, waren leider nicht zu sehen.
Because it was still early I visited the Adelaide Zoo where I was able to talk to Terry, a zookeeper in the reptile house. The zoo is compared to other Zoos relatively small, but nicely installed. The western desert taipans (Oxyuranus temporalis), the main reason for my visit, unfortunately weren`t on display.

Danach gings zurück zum Campingplatz, wo ich wieder die Nacht verbringen werde.
After that I went back to the camp ground were I will spend the night again.
