Organ Pipes Nationalpark, Ballarat und Reptilien! Organ Pipes National Park, Ballarat and Reptiles!

Nach den 3 Tagen in Melbourne ging es am Vormittag des 28.01.16 in den Organ Pipes Nationalpark. Dort schaute ich mir die Organ Pipes, den Rosette Rock und die Tessellated Pavement an. Bei allen drei Sachen handelt es sich um Basaltsteinformationen.
After three days in Melbourne I went to the Organ Pipes National Park in the morning. I took a look at the Organ Pipes, the Rosette Rock and the Tessellated Pavement. All three thinks are basalt Stone formations.

Danach gings weiter nach Ballarat, wo ich mich mit Infomaterial eindeckte und die Nacht auf einer Rest Area verbrachte.
After that I drove to Ballarat where I got some information material and spent the night at a rest area.

Den nächsten Tag (29.01.16) verbrachte ich in Ballarat, wo ich mir im Stadtzentrum die historischen Gebäude ansah und anschließend zum Lake Wendouree fuhr, um den Botanischen Garten und das Ex Prisoners of War Memorial zu besuchen. Anschließend lief ich noch etwas am See entlang.
The next day (29/01/16) I spent in Ballarat where I looked at the historic buildings in the city centre and afterwards I drove to Lake Wendouree to visit the Botanical Garden and the Ex Prisoner of War Memorial. After that I took a short walk at the waterside of the lake.

Den Tag lies ich dann gemütlich auf der Rest Area ausklingen.
I ended the day nice and cozy at the rest area.

REPTILIEN! REPTILES!

Heute (30.01.16) war ein ganz besonderer Tag. Ich traf Aaron Hopper, welcher mir im Ballarat Wildlife Park eine Tour hinter die Kulissen des Reptilienhauses gab.
Today (30/01/16) was a very special day. I met Aaron Hopper who gave me a behind-the-scenes tour at the Reptile house in Ballarat Wildlife Park.

Er zeigte mir einige der Tiere. Ein paar davon gibt es in europäischen Beständen garnicht!
He showed me a couple of animals. Some of them aren´t existing in european collections!

Inlandtaipan Baby/Inland Taipan baby (Oxyuranus microlepidotus)

Hoplocephalus bungaroides (Broad-headed Snake/kein deutscher Name)

Pseudechis porphyriacus (Rotbäuchige Schwarzotter/Red-bellied Black Snake)

Albino & melanistischer Blauzungenskink/ Albino and Melanistic Blue-tongued Skink

Pseudechis australis: große Mulgaschlange (Darwin Lokalität)/ big King Brown Snake (Darwin locality)

Antaresia childreni (Childrens-Zwergpython/ Children´s Python)

Morelia carinata (Rauschuppenpython/ Rough-scaled Python)

Das Highlight war jedoch, dass ich in das Gehege des jungen Komodowarans durfte.
The highlight was that I was allowed to go into the enclosure of the young komodo dragon.

Das Tier war total ruhig und neugierig.
The animal was totally calm and curious.

Anschließend habe ich mir noch die Schlangenshow und die Krokodilfütterung angesehen.
Afterwards I watched the snake Show and the crocodile feeding.

Die Dingos waren auch super.
I also really liked the dingoes.

Am Nachmittag fuhr ich noch nach Geelong, wo ich auch übernachten werde.
In the afternoon I drove to Geelong where I will spend the night.
