Coober Pedy - Die Opalhauptstadt/Coober Pedy - the opal capital

Gestern (26.02.16) fuhr ich von Pimba nach Coober Pedy. Während der Fahrt machte ich ein paar Zwischenstopps, unter anderem am Lake Hart, einem Salzsee, und in Glendambo.
Yesterday (26/02/16) I drove from Pimba to Coober Pedy. During the drive I made a couple of stopovers, i.e. at Lake Hart, a salt lake, and in Glendambo.

In Coober Pedy angekommen besuchte ich erstmal das Visitor Centre und checkte auf einem Campingplatz ein. Anschließend erkundete ich die Stadt zu Fuß, sah mir die St. Peter & Paul's Catholic Church, die Revival Underground Church und die Catacomb Church, alles unterirdische Kirchen, an. Danach guckte ich etwas durch die Läden und verbrachte den Abend und die Nacht auf dem Campingplatz.
As I arrived in Coober Pedy I visited the visitor centre and checked in on a camp ground. Afterwards I explored the town by foot, took a look at the St. Peter & Paul's Catholic Church, the Revival Underground Church and the Catacomb Church, all Underground churches. After that I looked through the shops a bit and spent the evening and the night on the camp ground.

Heute (27.02.16) habe ich das Umoona Opal Mine & Museum besucht und an einer geführten Tour durch die Mine und die unterirdische Wohnung teilgenommen (dugouts). Die Tour war sehr interessant und mein Guide, Rudy, immer zu Scherzen aufgelegt.
Today (27/02/16) I visited the Umoona Opal Mine & Museum and took part in a guided tour through the mine and the underground flat (dugouts). The tour was very interesting and my guide, Rudy, always was up for a joke.

Anschließend fuhr ich zum Big Winch Lookout, von wo aus man einen schönen Überblick über die Stadt und dessen Umgebung hat.
Afterwards I drove to the Big Winch Lookout, wherefrom you have a nice overview over thetown and it's surroundings.

Als Letztes fuhr ich noch zur Serbian Orthodox Church und zum John McDouall Stuart Monument.

Den Rest des Tages werde ich auf dem Campingplatz verbringen und Vorbereitungen für die Weiterfahrt treffen.
The rest of the day I will spend on the camp ground and will prepare everything for the continuation of the journey.

Flinders Ranges & Outback

Nach drei Tagen in Adelaide und Umgebung bin ich am 23.02.16 von Adelaide in die Flinders Ranges gefahren. Auf dem Weg hab ich einen kurzen Stop in Port Germein gemacht, wo ich eigentlich schwimmen gehen wollte. Dies war jedoch aufgrund der starken Ebbe nicht möglich.
After three days in Adelaide and surroundings I drove from Adelaide to the Flinders Ranges at the 23rd of february. On my way I did a short stopover in Port Germein, where I wanted to go swimming. But due to the strong low tide this wasn't possible.

Anschließend fuhr ich über den Pichi-Richi-Pass weiter in die Flinders Ranges.
Afterwards I continued my drive to the Flinders Ranges via the Pichi-Richi-Pass.

Die Nacht verbrachte ich in Cradock auf der freien Camping Area neben dem Hotel. Abends ging ich dann noch ins Pub des Hotels und trank eine Cola. Außerdem schaute ich mir den Sonnenuntergang an.
I spent the night in Cradock at the free Camping area next to the hotel. In the evening I went to the Pub of the Hotel and drank a coke. I also watched the sunset.

Am nächsten Tag (24.02.16) fuhr ich in den Flinders Ranges Nationalpark. Von Wilpena aus startete ich meine Wanderung zum Hill's Homestead und den Wangarra Lookouts. Auf dem Weg kam ich auch an den Sliding Rocks vorbei. Von den Lookouts aus hatte ich einen tollen Ausblick über Wilpena Pound, ein Tal in den Flinders Ranges.
The next day (24/02/16) I drove into the Flinders Ranges National Park. I started my hike to Hill's Homestead and the Wangarra Lookouts from Wilpena. During my hike I also came across the Sliding Rocks. From the lookouts I had a beautiful view over Wilpena Pound, a valley in the Flinders Ranges.

Auf dem Rückweg machte ich meine Mittagspause am Hill's Homestead. Nachdem ich zurück in Wilpena war fuhr ich zum Hucks Lookout. Von dort aus hatte ich einen tollen Ausblick auf die Flinders Ranges.
On my way back I did my lunch break at Hill's Homestead. After I was back in Wilpena I drove to Hucks Lookout. From there I had an amazing view over the Flinders Ranges.

Anschließend fuhr ich zurück nach Cradock, machte jedoch noch ein paar Zwischenstops an einigen Lookouts und eine Pause in Hawker.
Afterwards I drove back to Cradock, but made a couple of stops at some lookouts and a break in Hawker.

Flinders Ranges

Am Abend spielte ich noch etwas Billard im Pub des Hotels und unterhielt mich mit den Einheimischen.
In the evening I played some pool in the pub of the hotel and talked to the locals.

Heute (25.02.16) fuhr ich nach Port Augusta, wo ich schwimmen ging und fuhr anschließend mit ein paar Zwischenstopps über den Stuart Highway nach Woomera ins Outback, wo ich mir die frei ausgestellten Raketen und Flugzeuge ansah. Die Nacht werde ich auf der Rest Area des Pimba Road House verbringen.
Today (25/02/16) I drove to Port Augusta where I went for a swim and afterwards I drove, with a couple of stopovers, via the Stuart Highway to Woomera in the outback. There I took a look at the free exhibited rockets and airplanes. I will spend the night at the rest area of the Pimba Road House.
