Cooktown

Am 06.05.16 fuhr ich morgens zu den Cooktown Botanic Gardens. Von dort aus startete ich meine Wanderung zur Finch und Cherry Tree Bay. Die Wanderung führte teilweise durch den botanischen Garten. Als erstes kam ich an der Finch Bay an. Dort lief ich etwas am Strand entlang und machte eine kurze Pause in der Bucht.
At the 6th of May 2016 I drove to the Cooktown Botanic Gardens. From there I started my walk to Finch and Cherry Tree Bay. The walk took me partially through the botanic gardens. At first I arrived at Finch Bay. I walked along the beach and took a short break in the bay there.

Anschließend setzte ich meine Wanderung zur Cherry Tree Bay fort. Auch dort lief ich am Strand entlang und machte eine Pause in der Bucht.
Afterwards I continued my walk to Cherry Tree Bay. I also walked along the beach and took a break in the bay there.

Danach ging es wieder zurück zum botanischen Garten, welche ich mir anschließend anschaute.
After that I went back to the botanic gardens, which I looked at afterwards.

Nachdem ich auf einem Campingplatz eingecheckt hatte besuchte ich das James Cook Museum, wo der Anker und eine Kanone der Endeavour, James Cook Schiff, ausgestellt ist.
After I checked in at a camp ground I visited the James Cook Museum, which has the anchor and a cannon of the Endeavour, James' Cook ship, on display.

Nachdem ich etwas Zeit auf dem Campingplatz verbracht hatte fuhr ich zum Grassy Hill, von wo man einen tollen Ausblick über Cooktown, den Endeavour River und das Korallenmeer hat. Dort sah ich mir auch den Sonnenuntergang an. Die Nacht verbrachte ich auf dem Campingplatz.
After I spent some time at the camp ground I drove to Grassy Hill, where you have a nice view over Cooktown, the Endeavour River and the coral sea. I also watched the sunset there. I spent the night at the camp ground.

Am nächsten Tag (07.05.16) fuhr ich zur Quarantine Bay, wo ich einen langen Strandspaziergang machte und mich zwischendurch immer wieder an den Strand setzte. Ich hatte die Bucht ganz für mich allein.
The next day (07/05/16) I drove to Quarantine Bay, where I did a Long walk along the beach and sat down at the beach over and over again. I had the bay all for myself.

Danach fuhr ich zurück nach Cooktown, wo ich am Endeavour River entlanglief, mir die James Cook Statue anschaute und in einem Restaurant am Fluss etwas trank.
After that I went back to Cooktown, where I walked along the Endeavour River, looked at the James Cook Statue and drank a drink in a restaurant at the river.

Den Rest des Tages verbrachte ich auf dem Campingplatz.
I spent the rest of the day at the camp ground.

Heute (08.05.16) wollte ich eigentlich den Mount Cook hochwandern, der Weg war jedoch gesperrt. Deshalb besuchte ich den historischen Friedhof mit chinesischem Schrein. Da ich sonst nix mehr machen konnte, werde ich den restlichen Tag auf dem Campingplatz verbringen.
Today (08/05/16) I wanted to walk to the summit of Mount Cook, but the path was closed. That's why I visited the historical cemetery with the chinese shrine. Because there is nothing more to do I will spend the rest of the day at the camp ground.
